Branding Vehicles: Tips For Getting Your Business Noticed On The Road

While sitting in traffic, vehicles are seen by 3,000 potential customers per hour. These customers spend an average of 117,600 minutes a year behind the wheel in traffic and are simply looking for something to grab their attention. Why not make that your brand? Every day as your driving to and from work, you could be using your vehicle to promote your business and attract new customers.

The effectiveness of vehicle branding

According to a study conducted by the American Trucking Association and Robinson, Yesawich, and Pepperdine, 75 percent of people surveyed admitted that they developed a first impression about a company and its products from truck advertising. Nearly a third of participants would base a buying decision on the impression they received from a company vehicle and 91 percent of people could recall information on vehicle ads days after viewing it. This shows that branding on vehicles is a highly effective marketing tool that lets the people on the road know who you are. It reinforces a corporate image and creates lasting impressions on potential customers.

Considerations before committing to branding

Branding is unique to every business and therefore not every method is right for every company. Vehicle branding is most effective for businesses that target a broader audience of customers rather than a specific subset. This involves every day or necessity products such as food, beverages, and pharmaceuticals or emergency services such as plumbing, air conditioning, or electricity. These are products and services everyone needs so it would benefit your company if the general public saw your truck on the road. If you specifically target a smaller audience, you may want to conduct a cost analysis and determine if the benefits outweigh the costs.

Strategies on how to brand

There are several types of ads you can put on your vehicle. These ads can range from a simple logo on the side door to a full-on vehicle wrap. Whichever route you choose to take, you should aim to get your branding message across quickly, clearly, and concisely. Although you may be sitting in traffic for hours, there are times where your vehicle is zipping by customers and you will want text that is easy and large enough for your audience to decipher.

When it comes to vehicle branding, less is more. Create an eye-catching design and a prominently placed logo that will leave a quick impression. A short tagline is much more memorable than sentences of mumbo jumbo. Also, your ultimate goal with vehicle branding is to get customers to act. You want them to remember your name so that they can look it up later. Therefore, you may want to add your company website on the vehicle as this is much easier for customers to remember later on than your phone number or address.

Take advantage of every opportunity to market your business. While your car is sitting in traffic or zipping through the highway, why not let your customers know who you are and why they should choose you over your competitors?
